The origional article

This happened on 10/02/07

In the state New York, in the USA, a senator exclaimed there as a major flaw in the world of portable electronics. Bringing to the attention of the world that too many people, who are absorbed into their I-pods, are being distracted from the road and getting killed. In NY it is now illegal to use an I-pod while crossing the street and any caught doing so will be fined 100 US dollars (350RM).
A senator from the state of Brooklyn, names Carl Kruger, has extended this law further, now reaching towards, mobile phones, video games, and blackberries, and that instead of simply posting the fine money they must appear in court.
It also not only applies to walking, jogging and cycling were included and summoned to court as well.
Since September there have been three cases. In one a 21 year old man was hit by a bus, this was in Brooklyn. In NY another 20 year old woman was hit crossing a street in Fifth Avenue. In one of the cases bystanders screamed warnings but the hearer could not well hear.
Yet only a proposal not yet a law in America, New York was already the first state to ban cell phones while driving.
The law was retaliated to with stamens such as “what next, will we be fined for looking both ways?” or “You look with your eyes you don’t need to hear really. I guess”

    Hey Abhi,
I think you did a really nice job on your article! It was really interesting! Your summary was clear and i like that you chose an article from a printed newspaper! It is really original. Over all I think that the topic that you choose was really important because if the goverment would not have done some thing about it, the population would maybe go down drastically!

    Hey Abhi,
I totally agree with Emma, it was a great summary. The article was extremely interesting and I’m also wondering what will happen next. Do you think they will starting banning Ipods around the world? Well if it’s for the better then it should be ok. Anyways, like you said, it’s only for crossing streets. I can’t believe that people were hit by vehicles becasue they were too busy with their Ipods! Didn’t they see the car or bus coming towards them? Overall, it was a well-written summary on a really fascinating topic. Great job!

    Hi Abhi,

Very interesting topic. I couldn’t find the link to your article or the scanned copy of the article. Is this still in the proposal stage or has it gone through legislation to become a law already? If it were a law, how would it impact New Yorkers and the rest of the world? You did a great job. You sounded very knowledgeable.

    Hei Abhi,

It was awesome, you did a good job in that article. It was really interesting. I can’t imagine that you’ve made such a cool article. I’m really amazed and I enjoyed reading it. About your topic, I think it’s good that they’ve maked a law that can help those people in USA, not only in USA but also people around the world. I can’t believe those people are dying just because they are distracted by their Ipods. Are they blind or deaf? Because they didn’t notice that a car or bus is coming towards them. Or they’re not paying attention while they crossing streets? And that’s all, that was a fantastic summary of your article!!!
