Story Part 5
“I am shadow, and I will be your worst nightmare.” The lightning flashed and it began to rain…
Nick stood up. He advanced towards the stranger.
“Was that a threat?” He valiantly questioned. Obviously the stranger had no time for words because he screamed out loud knocking Nick backwards for a distance of but ten meters.
“How dare you question me!” The stranger’s voice echoed in the wind. Nick jumped to his feet and smashed a dart of ice into the stranger’s chest.
“Ah, ah, ah” Came a voice from behind us. “Don’t destroy the trees!”
“Trees?” Nick questioned, looking around he realized that he had stabbed his knife into a tree. I myself saw him stab into the stranger.
“How did you…?” Nick was puzzled. The great alchemist, Nicholas was puzzle “You as I can see are an alchemist, aqua region, 3rd division, study major of fauna of the polar and tropical regions, born to an elven mother and human father, orphaned as a child and grew up near a southern area off the coast of Antarctica.”
“How did you know all that, and how did you dodge my strike?”
“Never underestimate a sorcerer, Black mages, I laugh in your face, I just searched your feelings.”
“He, your good, lets make a bet, a duel, if you lose you give us all your powers, and if I lose I give you, Sandriale.”
“What is Sandriale?” The stranger and I asked at the same time.
“The sword he is holding is no epee it is Sandriale, blade of Mythios, god of the hunt. It is said that Sandriale tames the wild beast.
“Ok boy, lets change the deal a slight bit, your part stays when you lose but if I lose I wont give you my powers, but you two will become my apprentices, you will train for a whole year with me and embark on the crystal search in 5 days.”
“Deal!” Nick and I said.
“Let the games begin.” The stranger announced.
The ground began to shake again and a hole ripped open underneath our feet. We were sucked into the vortex and dropped into a plain white room. There was only white as far as the eye could see. Underneath our feet ran a river. I realized that we were standing on top of the water. Not sinking in.
The stranger was gone.
I heard a sharp scream behind us and we turned to see what it was. We turned to see nothing but, the endless white, yet the water seemed to ripple. We turned back and there was “shadow” he raised two hands and a ball of fire blew out of each one. IT ripped right through my chest, scorching my skin and vest. I screamed in agony clutching my burning torso. Nick on the other hand had countered the fire creating a ball of water and shooting that forwards, they met in the middle, and steam trickled upwards.
Shadow ignored Nick and advanced towards me. He put a hand under my chin and pulled my figure up onto my feet. I saw him create another ball of fire straight in front of my face and then he said.
“Goodbye….”

Story part four
Nick fell down inside the creatures massive jaws, the creature shut out the light for him and closed its beak. The creature looked like it was chewing. But then I saw a flash of light and the creature’s jaws flew open with Nick jumping out and landing on top of the creatures head. He seemed to create some sort of leash and collar out of ice and strung this around the creature’s neck. This seemed to actually calm the creature. Nick was friendlily patting the creature on the head and the creature was purring affectionately. “I’m gonna call you…um…let’s see.” Nick thought to himself. “I’ve got it; I will call ya toasty, because it was toasty inside of ya.” He winked at me. Then he rubbed the creature now called toasty on the head and scratched behind his ears. “You like that don’t you toasty?” I looked up at him and asked.
“Is toasty really a logical name?”
“A name can be anything, remember that whale you saw, I called him bob, I like to name and keep random animals as pets.” Now that toasty knew us he didn’t seem to be the size of a bus any more but now he was the size of a horse.
“Does he look smaller to you?” I inquired
“Yes of course, queen griffinmoles change size based on their emotions. Cool huh?”
“Yeah sure, but what are we going to do with him?”
“We can take him along, I mean he can fly.”
“Ok, but what about me? While you’re flying around what do you expect me to do, run.”
“Just fly with him.” He pointed to the same little griffinmole that brought us here; it was chewing on my trouser legs again. That was imaginable, not only the strain the little guy would need to take but can I fit on him. It’s like a 14 year old boy trying to ride a hamster around his house. The little guy did want to come along though, so I could take him with us.
“Hey little guy,” I said bending down to pat him on the head. “Would you like to come along?” I was about to scratch his head but he let out a sort of failed bark and bit me on the nose.
“HAHA, you got bit by the shrimp, shrimpy bit you, ha-ha you got beaten by a shrimp.” He pointed and laughed.
“Fine then you can come but I’m going to call you a really stink name; ha here’s a good one, amoeba yeah I’ll call you little amoeba. So there!”
“You know he can’t understand you.” After Nick said that I realized I was trying to tease a tiny animal, and shut up quite sheepishly.
So we set out trough the woods. I was trying to ignore little amoeba biting at the end of my trousers and just floating behind like a flag on a flagpole as I walked. I was going to be nice and re-name little amoeba but for some reason the name just stuck. Every so often little amoeba would let go of my apparel and jump on to my shoulder and cliff dive trying to flap his wings and fly like toasty, during this every so often little amoeba would fall flat on his face dig into the ground, come up behind me and latch onto my trousers again.
When we finally reached the tower we saw what a monstrous site it really was, the ravens eyes were blood red and the looming dark clouds completed the fearful landscape.
Every second I would see a flash of black or red out of the corners of my eyes, and then we reached the gate of the tower. Nick touched the doorknob, and then suddenly he was knocked of his feet by a tall figure in a long sweeping black cloak. He had on a pitch black face mask and pitch black hat. He had a collar which was turned up like a guard around his neck. The trail of his cloak caressed the floor and swept to the sky at its end. On him there was no shine of light, no difference in the shade and tone of colour, he was a walking living silhouette.
“What is your business here?” He asked.
“We were just exploring” That’s exactly what I said when I was being questioned in the same way when I met Nick. “Who are you?” Nick asked. The reply came as.
“I am shadow, and I will be your worst nightmare.” The lightning flashed and it began to rain.
Story Part Three
I stumbled backwards at another tremor under my feet. My attention was immediately drawn back to the tower. The tower was a tall figure looming over the trees below it. It had one thick main shaft that ascended above the clouds. Every 20 or so meters the smoothness of the shaft was interrupted by a ridge. This made the structure look like an enormous bamboo plant. The birds began circling the tower and perched themselves on the ridges and on the flat summit. All that distinguished the silhouette were about 100 arched windows, through which blood red light emerged.
The rumbling finally stopped and the skies and waters settled the tower had embedded itself in the landscape, a monster ruling over the island and controlling its beings.
“So what is that? What just happened?” I enquired to Nick.
“I don’t know, let’s go see.” He said so anxiously as if it was a good thing or some kind of blessing.
“Go see, are you crazy?”
“No, this is so cool, I mean, it’s not everyday that a tower emerges from the ground, it’s a new adventure, we could even get killed!”
“You say that like it’s a good thing.”
“Let’s go, let’s go, and let’s go!” After meeting him he seemed so tense and serious, he held himself very distinguishably but now he showed me he was just like me and could act childish and could have fun like a 14 year old like myself. He ran into the trees and I followed him. I had nothing better to do anyway.
We traveled for bout ten minutes when I heard a strange squeaking, an almost laughing noise. I stopped to listen. The noise seemed to be coming from my left.
“Hey do you hear that?” I asked Nick
“If you’re talking about the squeaking, then yes”
“Ok so I’m still sane then.”
“That sound would be the griffinmoles” he said
“Griffinmoles?”
“Yes is that so hard to understand? Part griffin, part mole they are harmless”
That was when a small furry creatures head popped out of the ground. It cocked its head to one side and let out another squeak. The creature had a small round head with small teddy bear like ears. The moles mouth was protruding outwards from its face and was the shape of a beak; this was fully covered in fur except for a small golden tip where two dark circles, for nostrils, were situated. It then jumped out of the ground and landed on its feet in the soft mud. Its body was that of a mole except for its hind area and legs which were miniature examples of a lion. But the most fascinating part of the creature was the two wings resembling the wings of an eagle. It bit at the end of my trousers and took of at full speed into the foliage to my right. It then advanced back out and stood there looking at me. It then came back and bit at my trousers again, pulled them in the direction it was going and took of back into the foliage.
“I think it wants us to follow it.” I yelled to Nick.
“Ok then let’s, like a side quest sort of thing.” So we set off after the creature, we walked for about an hour when we reached a clearing. Then the creature let out a sharp scream that it held for about a minute. After this hundreds of the little creatures started popping out of the ground.
Then the ground began to rumble again and a huge figure ascended from below.
The figure resembled the griffinmoles except for a few details. One, it was gigantic. Two it stood on four limbs instead of two, and three it’s had a fully golden beak which was not covered in fur.
The creature spied us and in its animal instinct, struck out at us with a gargantuan claw. I looked at Nick and asked what to do.
“This…this is a queen griffinmole, one of the rarest creatures in existence. Also one of the most aggressive, were going to have to battle it out. Here take this.” Unlatching from it’s sheathe he took out his sword and handed it to me. “You can use a sword right?”
“Sure, but wont you need it?”
“I have my own ways.” That was it and then the creature was on use like a dog to steak. It let out a deafening roar and flew into the air. I saw a flash of light to my left and saw Nick holding his arm out as if holding a sword. I could see a sword actually being created in his hands. The sword was made of ice.
“How did you do that?”
“I just froze a certain number of water particles that were floating in the air.”
“But that’s not possible.”
“Not when you’re trained as a black mage.” He then started to ascend upwards by freezing the particles beneath him and creating a tower of ice. He jumped out at the creature, which in turn swooped down at him. The griffinmole head butted Nick with the top of its skull sending him flying through the air. Nick was closing in on a large mountain and smashed right into it. Indenting into the mountain and cracking a large hole into its side.
Nick was running on the ground underneath the creature and shooting up ice crystals like arrows and spears. The creature was speared many times and fell to the ground, its wings ripped, tattered and unusable. It screamed and it let out rings of a sort of yellow energy which ripped a line through the grass and threw Nick right off his feet. Nick was flying over the creature and managed to stabilize himself and was falling down holding his ice sword like spear to stab the creature. But that’s when the creature faced him; with its beak wide open and threatening to swallow him in one go. He was a meter above the snout of the creature and he fell straight down and…
Story part two
“Who are you?” He asked
I told him my name. “What is your intention here?” He frowned at me and raised his sword. I backed away one step. He jumped from the whale and started swimming to me. Climbing out of the water the droplets of water froze into ice crystals that clung to his armor that now glistened and sparkled in the midday sun. Water dripped down his face until reaching the edge of his armor and instantly freezing. Each step he took left a carpet of ice covering the beach behind him. The sky and the tops of the highest trees reflected off this sheet of crystalline wonder, they appeared blurred and deformed.
He came up to me and laid a hand on my shoulder. I felt the chill of his hands when they touched my shirt. “I asked you a question,” He seemed agitated, “What is your intention here.”
“I…I was just exploring,” He was much taller than me, and his looming figure and angered gaze brought me to lose all courage and humility and could only talk and stammer.
“Ok, well I’m on an adventure myself. My name is Nicholas” He thrust a hand forward as a greeting. I shook. “So what are you seeking?”
“Me? Um… I don’t know all I remember was I was washed up onto a river bank, walked a bit then came through a clearing in the trees to um… here. What are you after?”
“I think you look trustable. Well I seek a crystal, a special type of crystal. It is known as dilidium monoferomide it is a compound of the two rarest chemicals in existence and these elements can only react under the perfect circumstances and in the perfect place. This is called crystal of Karlia”
“Oh what are they?” This intrigued me.
“When there is a solar eclipse, and the sun and moon are exactly over 0 degrees latitude and 0 degrees longitude there will be, in the ray that hits that point a mystical force. This point west off the gulf of guinea, this island is there. The twist is this island only appears on a leap year and must be within 7 days the 7th day of the 7th month, and must have the eclipse. This is called arandia.” He explained.
“Today is the 2nd of the 7th and this year is a leap year.”
“That’s why we are here!”
“How come nobody else is here? And how do you know where the crystal is?”
“They will be here, and the crystal is only found in one place the core of the earth. There is only one passageway that can take us there without passing through magma.”
“So where is the center of the earth exactly because it may be a bit to the side or something?”
“Well do you know of the second moon? Well when the eclipse is at (0,0) it runs through the center of the earth one way and the second moon sends an aura the other way so it the earth if it was flat would look like a circle divided into quarters. The middle point of intersect would be exactly were to go.”
“You also said it was the crystal of Karlia, what’s Karlia?”
“That my friend is so dear and valuable. Karlia is the rarest form of mental strength. When a person can tap into Karlia they can use their full potential, when you tap into Karlia anything is possible. Karlia can only be used by certain people chosen by god. These certain are the most powerful people in this world. The known world has only seen one user of the sacred art.”
“What happened to him?”
“He disappeared.”
“But who was he, name anything?”
“He had no name and no family; none had ever seen his face or ever heard his voice. He would communicate telepathically and hypnotize people into forgetting all but his words.” Just then the ground began to rumble, the sky’s turned grey and the trees black, the water began to steam up and recede. A beam of light shot out onto a mountain top and then began firing all over the island. The structures around me began to crumble and the earth turned to stone and the water began to change into blood. In the middle of the isle a monstrous tower rose from below the canopy.
“What’s happening?” I yelled over the ruckus to Nicholas. He looked at me and then…
My story(no title) part one
As we reached the smoke I started to feel strange. I beheld a colossal pool of a turquoise, crystal, silk blanket of water draped majestically over the stunning landscape. The spring placed carefully in the valley of the rolling, green hills, dotted with daisies and capped with a rich cover of blue ice and finshed off with the stunning sight of the bulb of the sun blazing in the background and dyeing the sky a bleached magenta. Inside the lake lay a titanic whale. A gargantuan creature with a head the size of a small family van slept and completed the landscape. This whale like creature nostrils lay on the edge of its stubby snout. Behind its nostrils were two ridges like miniscule mountain ranges advancing up for about half a meter then separating and still crawling upwards until reaching the eyes on opposite sides of the head. Rainbow coloured trails like streamers billowed in the wind at the back of a fan shaped crest which resembled a crown on the back of its skull. I advanced and as soon as I reached the waters edge I a handful of sand was kicked up each step I took. One hand full embraced the water and set out a harmonious vibration through the substance. The eyes of the whale suddenly opened. Opening its mouth, in what I thought was a yawn it let out a rumbling cry. I could only see the head, but it was still frightening.
“What happened boy?” A voice said from just behind the whales crest. Just then a boy about my age jumped over the crest and patted the whale friendlily on the head. He had amour on and he carried a sword. He wore no helmet but he did wear the rest of a full suit of armor. His armor was a turquoise colour and each piece was parented with a silver, aluminum lining. His armor glistened in the light of the sun. His sword though was what interested me the most. It was a fencing epee with an intricate hilt. The hilt resembled a rose and the stalk being the handle itself.
I stood there staring at him and the whale. That was when he turned his gaze in a different direction. His gaze looking a mixture of confused and annoyed. I was trying to figure out what he was looking at when I discovered he was looking straight, at me.
